Fun with Birds Eye View from Microsoft Live Earth

So I’ve started to use the Windows Live Writer, part of Microsoft’s Windows Live package (i.e. their Windows 7 app suite that they decided to put online to avoid antitrust litigation).

It’s alright I guess, actually it’s a pretty nice little program. I just wish it allowed integration with Google’s online tools in addition to its own. This would allow me to do things like blog running routes.

Since it does integrate (sort of) with Microsoft Live Maps—oh excuse me…Bing Maps—I can bring you this post where I explore points of interest in my life.

1) 111 Ferguson, Lansing, MI – My home from April 2007-March 2008.

For those of you who thought I was exaggerating when I said I lived in the middle of a parking lot, here you see what I was talking about. Quaint, really.

Look! You can see me and my old Ford Taurus driving up on the street. What a find.

2) 125 Regent, Lansing, MI – March 2008-present.

The pin marks the location of my second floor urban loft. I think this picture was taken before I lived here, though. Notice how there is not yet a sweet sweet garden or sweet sweet compost pile.

3) 111 Ferguson, Lansing, MI, REDUX

Here we are back at the old dungeon again. If Windows Live Writer had all the functionality I would like, I could produce the image below more easily. Anyway, you can see a few items of interest here. First, as my apartment was the second floor of this shack, I set pots out on the overhang, visible in the image. Second, if you look closely, you’ll see the purple paint that my neighbor spilled all over the brown front steps. In the remaining seven months that I lived here, my *land*lord never bothered to clean it up or paint over it. No offense to my neighbor though—he was a nice guy.

Michigan State University Student Newspaper is an Icon of Integrity

First, enjoy this satirical fiction piece from the Huffington Post:

Then read the response:

At least he didn't threaten to run over this "Joshua Cohen" with his car.
